Mike Buchanan hosts men-only Zoom meetings from 17:00 BST every Sunday on behalf of Regarding Men. He’s present for 90 minutes, then, if attendees wish to continue the meeting in his absence, he makes one of the attendees a host.
The meetings will evolve over time to maximise their usefulness for attendees. Nobody will be expected to reveal more about themselves and their problems with alcohol than they feel comfortable with revealing. Attendees can be visible if they wish, or not, and contribute by audio alone, if they wish.
It’s manifestly clear that alcohol dependancy isn’t a disease, and the model that will be followed in these meetings, where relevant, will be that espoused by Craig Beck, “The Stop Drinking Expert”. There are 500+ videos across 12 playlists on his YouTube channel.
Drinkers with a physical dependency on alcohol are strongly urged to seek the advice of their doctor before reducing or stopping consumption. For such drinkers, the consequences of reducing or stopping drinking alcohol without professional medical support can be damaging and potentially fatal.
